Mark Norman - Senior Pastor
Mark was born in New Mexico but spent most of his growing up years in Illinois. He came to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior while in kindergarten. After undergraduate studies at Moody Bible Institute and Western Bible College, Mark earned a Masters of Theology degree (ThM) from Dallas Theological Seminary as well as a Master’s degree in counseling (MABC) from Colorado Christian University. He is ordained through the Evangelical Free Church of America and has previously served churches in Illinois and, most recently, Iowa.
Mark married Helene on April 12, 1986, and they are blessed with two daughters, Emma and Claire. Mark enjoys taking long walks with Helene, spending time with family & friends, reading, gardening, watching college basketball, and playing pickleball.
Board of Elders:
As an Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA) church, Faith Church is congregationally governed and Elder led. The general role of the Elder Board, in addition to providing policy guidance and overall governance, is to provide for the spiritual life and ministry direction of the church.
Dr. Ken Kompelien - Chairman, Elder
Ken grew up attending an Evangelical Free Church in northern Minnesota and came to know the Lord while in Vacation Bible School at the age of five. Ken has attended Faith Church since 1997 with his wife Jan, and their three (now adult) children. Ken has served as a youth group leader, Sunday school teacher and worship leader. He has been one of the Faith Church Elders since 2008 and has served as church chairman since 2013. Ken works as academic dean for the North Dakota State College of Science. He loves his family, sports (especially the Minnesota Vikings and Twins, and UND hockey) and fishing and spending time at the lake.
Joshua Hardie - Vice Chairman, Elder
Joshua grew up south of Wahpeton on his family’s farm and has been a part of Faith Church since the beginning as his family was one of the founding members. He has always considered Faith his home church and has many fond memories of youth group and other events surrounding the church growing up. Missions played a key role in his spiritual development as he participated in Royal Servants/Peak Performance missions trips as a teen and young adult. He graduated from NDSU and married a mysterious Texas girl, Sarah, in 2007. They have four children Adelaide, Ezra, Cora, and August.
Joshua continues the family farming tradition in La Mars township ND as well as overseeing development of an agriculture/missions project in Mozambique Africa in partnership with family. He has a passion to see agriculture/business used for the glory of God and the expansion of His Kingdom. Joshua longs to see Faith Church as a vital hub in the community of Wahpeton/Breckenridge and also to see it spearheading the movement of God’s Kingdom across the globe.
Patrick Anderson - Secretary, Elder
Patrick Anderson grew up in west central MN in the small town of Evansville. He moved to Breckenridge in 1995 and became a Christian in 1997. He has been involved with Jr. and Sr. high youth group off and on since 2004 and is in his 10th year of teaching Sr. High Sunday School. He is married to his wife, Lynda, and they have three children. Patrick works as an instructor in the Diesel Department at NDSCS in Wahpeton. He enjoys spending time at the lake with his family, skiing in the winter, cooking up recipes, enjoys following the local, college and professional sports teams, the annual family deer hunting trip and going for a morning run.
Loryn grew up in a small town in southwestern Minnesota, attended South West Christian High. He graduated from Granite Falls area vocational school in Tool and Die. He worked for mold shops in Iowa, and South Dakota before settling in Wahpeton. Loryn and his wife Joyce have two boys, a daughter-in-law, and are blessed with three grandchildren. He enjoys being involved with the worship team and helping with lawn care at Faith Church.
Jim Albrecht - Elder
Jim was raised in a farming community in northeast North Dakota and grew up attending a Mennonite Church. He attended college at UND in Grand Forks and his career path took him to the Twin Cities for a few years before moving to Wahpeton. He and his wife Karen, along with 5 children, started attending Faith Church in 2007. Jim works in Wahpeton for ComDel Innovation, a contract product development and manufacturing company
Rockey Stoltenow - Elder
